Twin Falls, July 12

We have been having a great time visiting Monica's cousins.  They have been extremely hospitable, and allowed our tribe to totally disrupt the house!  Great food and company, nice way to start the vacation. Kids are tired of being in the car, which is understandable.  So, we are going to hang out in Twin Falls and forgo the visit to Sun Valley this time around.  We have plenty of mountains coming anyway, when we head toward Yellowstone in a few days.

Twin Falls is a typical blue-collar working type town perched on the edge of the Snake River Canyon.  Its fairly flat, all ancient lava flows, and gets quite warm.  But, thunderstorms commonly blow in during the afternoon and cool things off.  Nice town, and bigger than I thought.  Kids are pretty much doing the usual; playing video games and running through the sprinkler (not at the same time) with their cousins.

Last note, Monica's cousin has a beautiful, all original, completely restored, 1966 Mustang Convertible, baby blue with a white interior!  They offered to let us take it, but I know my kids would destroy the interior.

Family Vacation, Day 1-2

Well, we finally got the WiFi going.  Made it to Twin Falls, Idaho in one day, and visiting Monica's cousin.  Its 85 degrees, and beautiful, but all the folks here think its hot!  We are 576 miles from our drive way.  The drive over was a challenge, but we made great time.  A lot of people say they dont like driving through Nevada, but we think its great!  Tomorrow going to hit Shoshone Falls, and look around Twin Falls.  We will be here the next few days, and taking lots of pics and enjoying the visit with Monica's cousin, then next off to Jackson Hole.  Will post pics soon.

Trailer and gear are all ready for the trip.  Just have to tie up a few loose ends and do a little shopping.  Baseball season ended last week.  Sofia will have her dance recital Saturday.  Nothing to do after that except to go on vacation!  Two weeks and counting down.

Summer

On June 7 the 2011 School Year ended.  Going to spend the next few weeks getting ready for vacation, then we will be blogging it.
